What is God like?

God is almighty in power

Just because our minds cannot comprehend the greatness of God, why does that stop us from believing there is a God? Your mind cannot grasp the greatness of the internet, but does that stop you from believing the internet exists?

If you type in 4 letters - FREE into Google and in 0.49 seconds – you could get 13,430,000,000 hits. If you spent I minute per site and asked them to send you whatever they are offering free, you may be very rich, but it would take you more than 25,000 years.

You cannot see the information leave your phone, or computer, but you see the evidence of information coming and going.

You cannot see the wind, but you can see the evidence of the wind. You cannot see electricity, but you can see the evidence that there is electricity. In this life we will not see God in all of His greatness, but we can see the evidence of God’s greatness. The universe gives us a glimpse of His greatness.

God is pure and right, there is no evil in Him

God is not limited to the environment like we are. He does not need to deceive, or lie. He does not need to steal, or cheat. Everything He says is true and honest. He has given humanity freedom to choose. We can either choose to follow His way of love, kindness, honesty, faithfulness, patience, gentleness and self-control, or go against His character with dishonesty, greed, hatred, violence, unfaithfulness, impatience, lust and lying.

Each of us have done things that are wrong and we all need to be forgiven by God as He does not want our bad behaviour to pollute His pure heaven

God is loving and kind

God has shown us His love, patience and kindness. There have been times when He has had to destroy evil behaviour in the world, but this was for the benefit of humanity. Because God created us, He loves what He has created from the very moment of life. God loves every human being from the moment of conception, but He will not accept our evil behaviour. He loves murderers, but will not accept murder, He loves liars, but rejects lying. The reason why Jesus came to earth was God’s way of showing His love to humanity. The most evil person can have their life radically changed for the good. His love for you is real and powerful and will lead to your forgiveness and acceptance into His eternal family, if you want to live forever.

God is not limited to a human body.

We are so aware of our limitations throughout our life including sickness, aging and death. God is eternal without our limitations. Jesus had to come to earth in order to be able to die so that He could take the punishment we should have taken for all our wrong deeds and thoughts. There is nowhere you could go in the universe and not be able to have a personal relationship with God.

God knows all things.

He knows our thoughts and so there is nothing that we can hide from Him. It is not just the words we use, but the thoughts we have. We can desire to commit murder, but not murder, but with God desiring to commit murder is the same as committing murder, it is a sin against him.

He can communicate with us all at the same time. We can pray to God any time, or any place. We can ask God to forgive us at any time and any place. When we ask God to forgive us with a sincere heart, God cleanses us from all sin.

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar and His word has no place in our lives.
1 John 1:8 - 10

God’s justice is fair and definite.

One day we will all have to stand before God and give an account of our lives to Him. He will look into the ‘Book of Life’ and if your name is recorded there you will be welcomed into Heaven as one of His children, but if your name is not recorded there you will be cast into hell and never be heard of, or thought of again. You have this life to choose what your eternal destiny will be. You may be a good person, but your good deeds do not save you. You must seek God’s forgiveness and accept Him as your Lord and God.

The choices you make will have EVERLASTING consequences and will need to be made with this truth in mind.
